Citation Management with RefWorks — Get Started

Create a RefWorks Account

If you're a new user of RefWorks, begin on the RefWorks web site.

Select "Use login from my institution" at the bottom of the sign-in box, search for the University of Connecticut, and click on it when it displays.

Enter your UConn email address and choose "Yes, I consent. Please create my account."

Complete your profile with your full name, department, and role.

From now on, when RefWorks, choose your institutional sign-on and use your NetID to login.

Install the Save to RefWorks Button in Your Browser

The Save to RefWorks button makes it easy to add web sites to your library. To install it, click on your name at the far right of the screen in the top navigation bar. Select the Tools option.

Click on Save to RefWorks and follow the prompts to add the button to your bookmarks bar.

Edit Settings

To modify your account settings, click on your name at the far right of the screen in the top navigation bar. Select the Settings option.

Here you can edit your "Area of focus" (your department or unit within the university) and your role.

You can also set your Database Exports to default to the RefWorks platform (rather than Legacy RefWorks, a different product), but this will generally not affect whether our library databases ask you which platform you prefer at least once.
