Researchers should be aware that the spellings of names can vary, and the same person can have his last name given as Wiclif, Wicliffe, Wyclif, Wycliff, and Wycliffe. Similarly, a simple word such as book can be spelled as bok, boke, and bokke, and place names can have multiple spellings or change because of political developments.
