Chicago Style (16th edition)

  • articles from the library catalog,  databases, and Google Scholar  will usually provide a citation option, opt for Chicago Style that is consistent with your instructor's preferences
  • double-check your data, make sure authors’ names, titles of works, dates, and so forth are accurate and that they are entered in the approprate sequence
  • whether you are using footnotes or endnotes, citing is a a two-step process and entries need to be included in a bibliography
  • it is never sufficient to provide only a URL, a full citation is always needed
  • include a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) if possible, it provides a persistent URL to easily access an article
for example:  Amy Verdun. "Political leadership of the European Central Bank." Journal of European Integration 39, no. :2, (2017): 207-221, https://doi.org/10.1080/07036337.2016.1277715.
