Communication Subject Guide — Searching Outside Your Expertise

Guide to finding communication resources.

How do I find stuff not in my field?

When you need to search a little bit outside of your comfort zone, Scopus is a great database to use!

Scopus allows you to see the works cited by a work, as well as any works citing that work. You can explore a citation, discover sources cited, and other sources citing that citation. Especially useful if you are trying to situate yourself in a new area of study!

Another useful feature of Scopus - you can view an author's complete citation list.

You can also search by affiliation. If you know that a particular university is renowned for their work in an area, Scopus can help you easily discover the scope of that work!
