FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: If I live on campus, where do I vote?
A: There is a polling location on campus on the 2nd floor of the Bookstore for the first time this year (2024). You will be able to early vote there as well between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm from October 21 to November 3.

Q: I forgot to register to vote before the October 18 deadline. Is it to late for me to participate in this election?
A: No! If you go to an Early Voting location during the Early Voting period, you may register in person there. You can also register in person on Election Day at a designated Election Day Registration site.

Q: Do I register to vote on campus or in my hometown or home state?
A: You can do either depending on whether or not you'd prefer to vote for candidates where you live on campus/Mansfield or candidates back in your hometown. Many people choose to remain registered in their home state, for example, if it's a battleground or "swing" state consequential to the presidential election, or if there is a Congress or Senate seat they would like to see flipped from one party to another.  If registering to vote with your address in Mansfield, you can list your mailing address as your home address if you're not sure you'll be in the same residence for the longer term. You should check to see if your home state has strict rules about how absentee ballots can be offered before making a decision about where to register. Visit the Home page of this guide to see how you write your on campus registration address.

Q: Where do I get stamps to mail my absentee ballot or registration form(s)?
You can purchase stamps at the C-Store at the Student Union!

Q: I missed the deadline to register in CT. Does that mean I can't participate in this election?
A: You can still register to vote! If you are an eligible voter, you can go to your town's Same Day Registration (SDR) location to register on Election Day! Find your town's SDR location on this list.
