Accessibility Features for Gale eBooks

Gale eBooks have accessibility features that include choice of font, text-to-speech, and translation. The settings widget allows you to customize many of these features to meet your needs and provides keyboard shortcuts. Although highlighting Gale eBooks here, these features are available in many Gale databases. Below is an overview of these features. 

Text-To-Speech

Once you have opened a book you wish to read, click the Listen icon on the menu bar at the top left of the page.

After clicking on the Listen icon, you will be presented with a player that will allow you to control the playback. Use the stack at the left side of the player to customize your setting to access the window below, including playback speed, text highlighting, and more. 

 

 

Select a Font

Gale eBooks allows readers to select a preferred font, including color, line spacing, letter spacing, and word spacing. To access these features, click on the Display Options icon to be presented with all customizable options. 

Translation Feature

Gale eBooks have the functionality to translate books into a variety of languages and to set the language for the interface as a whole. To translate a book or chapter, click on the Translate Article icon at the top left of the page. This icon will also allow you to set the interface language.
