In response to recent and proposed ADA and EAA changes, several large database providers are prioritizing accessibility features in their products. This guide is designed to provide an overview of accessibility features in some of the Library's popular databases.
eBooks provided through EBSCO have a variety of accessibility features including text-to-speech functionality and viewing customizations. Please visit the EBSCO eBooks Accessibility page for a review of these features.
Academic Search Premier from EBSCO is one of the library's most heavily used databases. Articles contained in full text in Academic Search Premier have accessibility features such as Text-To-Speech and translation functionality. While screenshots were created using Academic Search Premier, these features are accessible in many library databases hosted on the EBSCO platform. Please visit the EBSCO Articles Accessibility page for a review of these features.
Gale eBooks have accessibility features that include choice of font, text-to-speech, and translation. The settings widget allows you to customize many of these features to meet your needs and provides keyboard shortcuts. Although highlighting Gale eBooks here, these features are available in many Gale databases. Please visit the Gale eBooks Accessibility page for a review of these features.
If you are not able to find the resources you need in a database that has accessibility features, Interlibrary Services may be able to help. Students with documented disabilities or temporary injury approved for alternate format by the Center for Students with Disabilities may request digitization of books in PDF OCR (optical character recognition) held at the UConn Library, as well as books received through ILLiad Interlibrary Loan.
Please visit Interlibrary Services' Accessibility Scanning page for details.
