Stable Linking to Electronic Resources — Help

• If the stable link does not work (e.g.,does not go directly to the item, returns a 404 not found page, returns a page that wants a password or won't access the article), check the following:

• confirm the entire URL has been copied
• check that there are no spaces between the proxy URL and the permalink or within the permalink
• confirm that the journal coverage holdings are accurate or that the library has a current subscription
• check that the proxy URL is included in the permalink (required for off campus access and authentication)
• check that the proxy URL is not included for open access resources or records from the Library's General Search

• If there is no stable link available, consider providing a citation and instructions to search an appropriate database.

• Using VPN and UConn AnyWare is not recommended, especially for video streams.

• A firewall or the security setting on your computer may block you from opening the resource. In these cases, you'll need to turn off the firewall temporarily or change your security settings.Contact ITS for firewall issues.
