Bridget and Nidhi are designing and implementing a targeted public intervention to raise financial literacy rates among undergraduates at UConn. In spring 2023, they hosted events on five salient aspects of financial education - budget, credit, debt awareness and management, investing, and financial planning.

Journal of Financial Literacy and Wellbeing The Journal aims to publish rigorous research on financial literacy and financial well-being, inform public policies as well as public, private and civil society strategies and activities, with the ultimate objective of improving the financial literacy, resilience and well-being of individuals and micro and small entrepreneurs. It covers research on the various elements of financial literacy (and related concepts, e.g. financial capability, including financial knowledge, attitudes, behaviours and skills) and financial well-being and their relationships and determinants. It includes research the related fields, such as financial inclusion, financial consumer protection, and financial resilience, which has recently been identified as one of the elements for maintaining well-being in the face of hardship.

Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPL) Financial education for high school student in the U.S.

Cherry Blossom Financial Education Institute The idea for the annual Cherry Blossom Financial Education Institute originated at the 2010 Colloquium held by the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE): Quarter Century Project: 25 Years of Research in Financial Education. For that event, an extensive body of research was collected and presented, but little consensus emerged about what makes financial education effective.
Teaching Personal Finance Conference The objective of this day long conference is to share experiences, including successes and challenges, the demand for personal finance and financial literacy courses, and obstacles faced in starting or in teaching such courses. Teaching methods, topics, and materials that can be useful when teaching personal finance will be part of the discussion. The event is meant to create a network of academics, teachers, and interested parties who will continue to share insights and experiences. Conference participants will be educators representing colleges and universities that serve a range of students in terms of economic background, course of study, and geography as well as experts and practitioners with diverse backgrounds, guaranteeing an interactive and insightful discussion.

National Financial Capability Study (NFCS) A large-scale, multi-year project that measures Americans’ financial capability. Commissioned by the FINRA Investor Education Foundation in consultation with the U.S. Department of the Treasury and other federal agencies. Sample of over 25,000 respondents. First conducted in 2009 and then repeated every three years.
S&P Ratings Services Global Financial Literacy Survey The S&P Global FinLit Survey is the world’s largest, most comprehensive global measurement of financial literacy. It probes knowledge of four basic financial concepts: risk diversification, inflation, numeracy, and interest compounding. The survey is based on interviews with more than 150,000 adults in over 140 countries.
