Plum Analytics or PlumX

Plum Analytics is a for-profit company which makes a basic level of altmetric information available to users without a fee.  Plum Analytics has an agreement with the database Scopus to provide altmetric information within the Scopus database entries, so you can look up either article or author information within Scopus and get access to Plum Analytics metrics, also known as PlumX. The basic metric information is available at this link

Accessing PlumX via the Scopus database

Within the Scopus database, access the record for the publication of your choice. PlumX works best with more recent articles, approximately 2010 and more recent, though there may be some information on earlier articles.

  1. Within the item record, if it is available, you'll see the PlumX Metrics name and symbol on the right side of the record. Click the down arrow to the right of the name.
  2. Any metrics information available will be listed in the appropriate categories.
  3. At the bottom of the entry click on the link "see details" to go to a more extensive listing of available metrics. Scroll down to see the PlumX metrics. In many cases the numbers listed are linked to the actual citing sources.
