Library Guide to "Why the Jews? Confronting Antisemitism"

This guide is designed to offer additional materials available from UConn Library that can assist participants in the course "Why the Jews? Confronting Antisemitism" to gain further knowledge on the subjects discussed in each of the course's seven modules. These materials support the core learning objectives of the course:

  1. Recognize the diverse nature of Jewish identity and tradition from antiquity to the present.
  2. Classify the many forms Jewish hatred has taken over time
  3. Analyze how harmful stereotypes are deployed in the service of diverse agendas
  4. Identify the role antisemitism has played in European History, American History, the history of the Holocaust, and in contemporary campaigns seeking to deligitimize the state of Israel
  5. Recognize the different strategies Jews have employed throughout history in attempting to respond to hatred and antisemitism
  6. Analyze how anti-Zionism has been represented in discussions of antisemitism
  7. Explain the relationship between conspiracy theories, stereotypes, Holocaust denial, and antisemitism.

To access materials, click on the tabs to the left and select the item you wish to examine. Items with a call number are physical items and can be retrieved from the relevant campus library in person or requested for pickup. Electronic items, such as eBooks and online journal articles, can be accessed from your electronic device. Note that you may be prompted to login with your NetID and password when attempting to access digital library materials from an off-campus network.
