French literature books are shelved on Level 4 North of Babbidge Library under Library of Congress subclass PQ call numbers. During the COVID-19 pandemic you can page books to pick up at the Plaza level service desk. The majority of our French language books are in print and not digital due to a lack of copyrighted material for electronic book US market purchase for universities. This may evolve more rapidly since the pandemic has changed and altered supply chains.
Books in French that are about history, philosophy, or sociology, are shelved under those Library of Congress subject headings.
Call numbers beginning with DC are about the history of France. Subclass DS includes Middle Eastern and Asian Studies. Subclass DT includes African History books. Call numbers beginning with H are about the social sciences.
Other call numbers of interest for French and Francophone Studies:
Class F 1170: French America
Subclass F1900: Haiti
Subclass F2151: French West Indies
Subclass JN2301-3007: Political Institutions of France
