Biographies

The three national biographical databases include only deceased subjects. The Biography Reference Bank and the Gale Literary Resource Center profile living and dead subjects. The spelling of names can vary, so be certain to try alternative spellings if a search is initially unsuccessful.

Dictionary of Irish Biography
Includes biographies of scholars of Irish history, society and culture
Gale Literature Resource Center
Biographical essays on more than 100,000 authors and scholars, including many linguists.
Oxford Dictionary of National Biography
