Welcome to the First-Gen Library Resources Guide! 

This library guide is designed to introduce UConn First-Generation (first-gen) students to the UConn Library and to provide support to ensure success in accessing and utilizing resources and services at the library.

Here you will find information on locating materials from UConn Library, as well as details such as picking a research topic and citing sources. If you need further assistance, feel free to email your campus Librarian or start a live chat with a librarian.

• Ask a Librarian and get help from your librarian on anything including research papers, citing resources or search strategies
• Stop by our Library Services Desk with any question you may have about our services and resources. 
• Find and checkout books, CDs, DVDs, and laptops
• Borrow materials from any UConn Library campuses (Avery Point, Hartford, Waterbury, Stamford, Storrs)
• View your library record--My Account-- and renew your borrowed materials online
   
• Interlibrary Services - helps you obtain materials to support your academic research. Sign up for an ILLiad account to request book and articles not available at the UConn Library
• Find study spaces for when you need a quiet, group, or collaborative spot.  Book a study space in advance using our online reservation system
• Sign up for library workshop (in-person or online) to learn how to use our library resources and databases
• Find materials that your professor put on reserve for your class (a copy that can be borrowed for short-term use) 
• Access to 24/7 online journals, magazines, books, and scholarly websites
   
• On Campus Printing 
• Copiers & Scanners may be available at the library. Contact your campus library location directly
• Use library computers and laptops to work on a paper or project
• You can view many of our steaming videos from Kanopy, Alexander Street Press, Films on Demand and more
