Creative Commons Licenses — License Conditions

An overview of the open licenses called Creative Commons, which are important in both open access publishing and in Open Education Resources (OER.)

License Conditions

CC license 4 conditions

There are four conditions to the CC licenses:

Attribution is CC BY. Others may copy, distribute, display or perform the work or derivatives based upon the work, but they must give the creator credit in whatever way the creator requests.

No-Commercial is CC NC.  Others may copy, distribute, display or perform the work or derivatives based upon the work, but it can be used only for non-commercial purposes.

NoDerivatives is CC ND. Others may copy, distribute, display or perform only verbatim copes of the original work and not derivatives based upon it.

Share Alike is CC SA.  Others may distribute derivatives of the work but those derivatives must be under the same Share Alike (SA) license as the original work.
